Dear River family,

After prayer and honest assessment of the current state of The River Church, Monument, the elders of the church, with mixed emotions, feel the time has come to be decisive regarding the future of the church.  Although many have hoped and labored together to attain a sense of direction for the future and gain traction in advancing the gospel those efforts have not seen the desired fruit and outcome.

As we have assessed the current state of the church, we believe the necessary elements for moving forward are largely lacking and, in some cases, non-existent. Thus, we (the Elders) have decided to suspend all River Church ministries, groups and functions effectively immediately until further notice. There will not be a service this Sunday, May 11, nor any planned for the foreseeable future.

Although the current state of the church is uncertain, we know that throughout its history The River has much for which to be thankful.  Multitudes of lives have been touched with the gospel, deep love has been expressed in carrying one another’s burdens, and joy has been shared at God’s goodness and work in and through us.

In spite of times of heartache, frustration, and pain we can know that God’s Word has been taught, lived, and preached in a way that lives have been transformed.  We’ll never know the even larger impact we had on others until we get to heaven and discover our kindness, our love, our ministry was used by God to transform their lives unknowingly to us.

We are entrusting God with the future.  And whatever He shows us, we believe He will take care of each one of us as we trust His leadership in our next stage of life.  In the meantime, we encourage you to visit one of the many good Bible-believing churches within reasonable and reachable proximity.

We pray that now and in the future you can focus on the good that God has done, the blessing of many relationships you’ve gained, and the purposes and calling of God that never ends. God has an amazing future for all of us as we seek Him diligently and make Him our ever-present help in time of need.

Each of you has brought some blessing to The River and its ministry.  We thank you for that and pray God’s best for each of you in the days ahead.  Our God reigns; trust in Him.

In Christ,

Jack Martinez, Elder
Ron Clement, Transitional Pastor
